Lower fees, local skills

Reduction in TAFE fees to benefit local students

A significant reduction in fees will make training more affordable for students enrolling in selected South Regional TAFE courses.

From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2025, the course fee rate per hour for these qualifications will be reduced by 50 per cent. The maximum annual fee students will pay is capped at $400 for eligible concession students and youth, and at $1,200 for non-concession students for each course of study.

The fee reductions are a result of the Lower fees, local skills program and is aligned with priority industry areas to make vocational education and training more affordable. The two-year initiative aims to stimulate training in job growth areas and support important sectors of the State’s economy including aged and disability care, METRONET, defence, hospitality and tourism. This program is funded by JobTrainer – a joint initiative of the Western Australian and Australian Governments.

The following courses on the Lower fees, local skills list are delivered through South Regional TAFE.

Check our FAQs at the bottom of the Skills Ready web page for details and to see if you are eligible.
